C.A.R.E. is an after school program aimed at helping your child complete school work. Please call 427-5668 for details about the program or 423-7733 for registration information. This program is not through Oasis Academy but is offered by Churchill County Parks and Recreation.

6,000,000 PENNIES!

Mr. Lewis is asking for your help with his school project. He is asking for pennies to represent the number of Jewish people who lost their lives at the hands of the Nazi regime.

Please bring your pennies to the school in a ziploc bag, counted and amount labeled on bag.

Let's help the kids understand the magnitude of 6,000,000 by bringing your pennies for the project!

First day of school

The first day of school, Monday, August 27th, is quickly approaching. If you missed the meet the teacher event last night make sure to get in touch with the school. There are some new things going on at the school this year including homework binders that have IMPORTANT paperwork that needs to be returned A.S.A.P. Also, remember school starts promptly at 8 a.m. and to drop your student off in the round-a-bout on the west side of the school. Pull all the way to the front of the line and PAY CLOSE ATTENTION to the traffic volunteers at the school. They will help this process run smoothly. If you are getting out of the vehicle please do not park in the drop off area, park in the designated parking areas along the white fence facing the college or in the large parking lot between the school building and the bank. Thanks for your cooperation in these matters and we look forward to seeing you on Monday!

We are the CHAMPIONS!

Fearghus Keitz (midfield/faceoff specialist), Conor Keitz (goalkeeper), and Kaden Stone (goalkeeper) just won the High Sierra Lacrosse League U13 Championship today.  Playing for North Reno, they entered the tournament the #1 seed, and defeated South Reno 22-3 in the semifinal to reach the final.  There, they defeated North Tahoe 12-8 to win the championship.  Unfortunately, Kaden wasn't there for the championship, but he was a key to the team entering the playoffs as the number 1 seed.

**LAST CHANCE**

Remember that Monday, May 21st is the last chance to get in the Old Navy raffle. That is also the last chance to purchase scrip during the school year.

It is so simple, go to the school and as you turn right through the doors there is a box with order forms and envelopes next to it. Fill out the number of scrip cards you want and, along with your payment, drop the envelope into the box.

One person will win a $50 scrip card of their choice.

You will have to stop by the school on Thursday, May 24 (Fun Day) between 2:30 and 5:30 to pick up your cards.

There will also be chances to purchase scrip during the summer and Mr. O'Neill will be at the school, so don't panic.

PLEASE help us make up the difference on the refunds from French Toast and help our school get additional money.

Kindergarten parents...this would be a great way to start helping the school before it even starts!

Old Navy Scrip Cards

In order to make-up the refunds that we got through French Toast WE NEED YOU to use SCRIP CARDS to buy uniforms. Old Navy gives 14% back to the school, which is a huge rebate!

We are giving you a chance to win a $50 Gift card ofyour choice.

March 26th, April 23rd, and May 21st

o For every $50 you spend on an OLD NAVY gift card you will be entered into a drawing to win a $50 gift card of your choice; for example, if you buy $50 in OLD NAVY gift cards your family is entered one time,if you buy $300 you are entered 6 times, etc. You are eligible for all 3 dates listed above.

o Your child will be bringing home an order form about a week before the orders are due. If you have been ordering Scrip online, please feel free to do that for this as well. We are offering the paper order forms for families new to Scrip. Fill out the form, send in your check made out to FOA and your cards will be here 2 days later.

o Once you have your cards you can watch for a sale on-line or in one of the Reno/Sparks stores. Remember, they do sell out of uniforms, so you need to order early. You also need to plan ahead. If your child grows 3 inches in January, his/her new size may not be available.

*** This promotion is NOT available for Old Navy scrip cards purchased at the Scrip Store from Mrs. Evans.

UNIFORMS

2012-2013 School Year

We have decided to go with Old Navy as our uniform supplier. Now there are more options on fit and purchasing!

 · Old Navy Uniforms (a “catalog” is being sent via email with order numbers and pictures, it will also be available to view at the school)

o Order on-line (Free shipping on orders over $50; watch for promotions, they have great sales. Please shoot us an email if you see one so we can let other families know)

o Go to a store to try on/buy (it sounds like Summit Old Navy has a good selection)

o If you decide to buy the polo dress YOU MUST buy the navy shorts that go under it.

· If you still have French Toast Uniforms that fit or you plan on handing down, those will be grandfathered in.

· This year we have been pretty lenient with theuniforms. THIS WILL NOT BE THE CASE IN 2012-2013. Only those items approved will be permissible, if your child is wearing unapproved clothing you will be called to pick them up. Some things to keep in mind:

o ONLY navy blue/white tights/socks may be worn. No stripes, décor, or other colors will be allowed. You can buy the tights/socks wherever you choose.

o If your child is wearing an undershirt it must be WHITE. If they have on another color they will have to take it off.

o They may still wear any shoes they choose, provided they are closed-toed.
