Enrichment - SKI PROGRAM

We are excited to announce that Oasis Academy has signed up with Mt. Rose for their Local Youth Program. Mt. Rose-Ski Tahoe is offering ski and snowboard development programs for elementary age children, in a controlled learning environment. Students learn from the same instructor throughout the lesson block. We are schedule for Fridays at 10:00 AM. Details about how ...to register will be available in November. Here are some of the details we know right now (these are right from the Mt. Rose website and may be subject to change):

Session 1 (Rosebuds, Rippers)-
Starts the week of Jan. 9th and ends the week of Feb. 13th.

**Rosebuds
(ages 4-10)
$200 (includes rental equipment* and lift ticket, snowboarding open to ages 7-10)
Rosebuds AM – 10:00 to 12:00

Rippers
(ages 10-12)
$115 ($165 with rental equipment*)
Rippers AM – 10:00 to 11:30

The cost also includes a lift ticket for each day of lessons.
The school will NOT be providing transportation but their may be opportunities to carpool.
This would make a GREAT Christmas gift (just saying you can't start planning to soon).
Last but not least. Mt. Rose will only be offering their season passes for a couple of more weeks. If this is something you are interested in you may want to order yourself a season pass. No reason you can't ski/snowboard while the kiddos are in lessons and then you can always ski/snowboard together the rest of the day.

LOGOWEAR - This just in!

Please look at it carefully, there are only 2 items that are uniform approved. Your child can turn their order form into their classroom teacher. You will need to print and fill out the last page to turn in with your check made out to FOA.

... We will have another order in the future, but this time, we have a quick turn around because of the French Toast sweaters being on back order.

MONEY is DUE NOV. 7th.

What a fun way to show your school spirit!

Scrip, scrip. scrip

Are you planning on sending holiday photo cards or other photo gifts this year? If so, please consider this awesome Shutterfly offer available through our fundraising Scrip program at www.shopwithscrip.com!

Shutterfly 5% Bonus Offer

Shutterfly® is pleased to be offering a 5% bonus contribution from Saturday, November 5, 2011, through Friday, December 2, 2011. That means you can purchase the $2...5 Shutterfly Gift Certificate and ScripNow! with a 14% contribution instead of the normal 9% contribution, during that time period only. (That's a $3.50 contribution to Oasis Academy for every $25 Shutterfly gift certificate or ScripNow! purchased through our Scrip program.)

Remember, you pay face value for Scrip gift cards, you get to spend the full face value of the gift card and Oasis Academy receives a percent of that amount from Great Lakes Scrip Center (because they buy in bulk at less than face value.)

If your family's Scrip account is set up with Presto Pay you can order a Shutterfly ScripNow! certificate at any time and receive it almost instantly. If you are not set up with Presto Pay you can order a Shutterfly gift certificate now and it will arrive with our next Scrip order on Nov. 10th.

Boxtops for Education

Enter the contests, it is really easy

Log on to http://www.BTFE.com/, do a simple registration, and you can enter these contests frequently, you can get coupons for boxtops products, earn E-Boxtops and bonus E-Boxtops automatically when you shop online at a number of common websites (plus get special deals like free shipping), and take surveys or watch videos to get bonus boxtops, which change every month. You can watch 5 Ford videos (ads), let them run in the background (less than 2 minutes each), and get 25 boxtops electronically credited to Oasis Academy's account. Let's say 50 families and 10 staff ran these videos in the background for 10 minutes while they are doing something else this week, our school would almost effortlessly earn $150.00 by Friday. That was just one way to get the bonus boxtops. Looks like there are a number of easy ways to get money here. Those dimes really do add up

UPDATE - Enrichment - Guitar Lessons

The class has now been opened to 4th through 8th grade children.

Younger students may need a smaller guitar (3/4 size) for their smaller hands and the teacher can provide it, if needed. Also, Premier pawn is ordering some guitar tuners to keep in stock for students, and Carpenter's Music will discount guitars and accessories for any students. The teacher can bring anything from Reno to Fallon if the students are unable to make the trip.
